Here’s how I help clients achieve business success:

1. Introductory call (or lunch, if that’s your thing).

Here’s where I’ll get an understanding of your company’s challenges (financial, cultural, you name it) and goals. We'll mutually create a vision for what's possible and plan what's next.

 

2. Comprehensive leadership survey.

You read that right—my work starts at the top! In my experience, cultural change begins with the company’s head, so I’ll thoroughly assess the business with your CEO or founder. This evaluation isn’t a report card; it’s an honest and empowering exercise to see where your business is and what needs to change to get where you want to go.

My survey is custom-created for each client, and my goal is to understand both the business and you, the leader. I’ll ask you to honestly share your goals (personal and professional), financials, company structure, systems, communication methods, and even technology usage. Following the survey, I’ll create a detailed game plan to prioritize urgent areas so you can achieve your goals faster.

 

3. Fractional CFO support.

Leave the repairs to me. Instead of giving you a laundry list of to-dos, I’ll do the legwork on the most pressing financial analyses, strategies, and systems—and then teach you how to manage these levers independently.

I simultaneously take on a limited number of clients to have the most impact possible. Clients typically hire me for six to twelve months in my highest capacity.

Phase 1: Discovery and data.

Let’s see what we’re dealing with here. This phase is about curiosity, where I’ll meet with your team bi-weekly for 90 minutes to understand what’s happening and identify opportunities for change.

As a CFA Charterholder, I’ll comb through your business’s operational and financial metrics to see areas needing efficiency. I'll look at standard business figures such as overhead, salaries, cash flow, and anything else that helps us understand where money and time are going. I’ll also dig into unconventional metrics, such as inbound/outbound employee email counts, mobile device usage, and monthly Slack messages.

While I use numbers for insight, my work is really about people. I'll conduct team surveys and hold brief employee calls to understand morale and pinpoint time zappers affecting productivity.

 
 

Phase 2: Immediate wins.

Now that I comprehensively understand your business needs and goals, I'll head up quick changes to generate momentum.

Generally, most clients benefit from establishing clear-cut communication guidelines. With your employees, we'll collectively decide what warrants an email, how to email for efficiency, when it's appropriate to cc, and other strategies to save hours. I'll also carefully evaluate your company's meetings culture to crystallize when they're necessary, how long they should be, and how to keep gatherings speedy.

Outside of meetings, I'll work on your most critical areas of improvement. For some, this might be hiring a bookkeeper; for others, it might be reworking a financial process for more precise data. These quick changes will inspire your management team, jumpstart momentum, and set the stage for even more wins shortly.

 
 

Phase 3: Systems development.

At this stage, I'll continue to meet with you biweekly and work with you to tackle our initial list of priorities. With every change, we'll get closer to our goals with each change through more margin, improved morale, and a clearer vision of what's possible. Whether you need help minimizing costs or want support restructuring your org chart, I synthesize two decades of experience in financial analysis and entrepreneurship to get you results quickly.
